Dairy giant Fonterra
Have you ever heard of the name Fonterra? Fonterra is a New Zealand dairy company founded in October 2001 and is the largest company in New Zealand, co-owned by cooperatives of approximately 10,500 dairy farmers. But you probably didn't know that Fonterra makes up 30% of the world's dairy exports. In other words, 30% of all dairy produced worldwide is Fonterra responsible. It's a huge company with an annual export value of $ 17.2 billion in New Zealand dollars.
The name Fonterra is derived from the Latin fons de terra, which means spring from the land in English. Perhaps a cow is involved in a cycle of eating grass that grows out of the soil and produces milk.
